Emergency fire doors

Ensure your fire doors are fit for purpose

Fire doors are designed to have a higher resistance to fire and to reduce and slow down the spread of smoke and fire throughout a building. It is essential that they are made and fitted to the correct standard, which is where E K Fire Protection come in. Established in 1995 we are one of Kent’s leading specialists in fire safety.

Our experts are able to provide fire door inspections throughout Kent, helping to give business owners and landlords all-important peace of mind. Our DBS checked, NAFDI-certified specialists will attend your premises, inspect all fire doors and come back to you promptly with their findings. We can provide this as a standalone service or combine it with a more thorough fire risk assessment.

How often should my fire doors be checked?

It’s important for your fire doors to be routinely assessed: whilst infrequently used, you’ll want to ensure that they are fully functional should you ever need them. We advise you to get doors checked every 6 months.

Our non-destructive assessment includes:

A thorough visual inspection of all fire doors and door frames

Checking for appropriate door markings (e.g. British Woodworking Federation ratings)

Assessment of door hinges and hardware (locks, latches etc.)

Assessment of fire door signage

Testing hold-open and closing devices

An inspection of glazing, vision panels, smoke seals and intumescent strips, as well as the materials used in the door’s construction

Assessment of door thickness, gaps and tolerances

Door closer keeping a glass door close

What happens after the assessment?

On completion of a fire door inspection our team will provide a detailed report of our findings. This will include notes of each door's condition, plus advice on any remedial work that's required to bring doors up to expected standards.

E K Fire Protection offer fire door pre-plan maintenance and ongoing inspection services tailored to meet the precise needs of the site you are responsible for. Our services will help you maintain compliance with The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

Excellent service, very professional, efficient and highly trusted.
